Dear Dad, I enclose one of the first photographs you had taken with me when we went to the seaside – it would have been either Aberystwyth or Borth, Mid Wales. We used to go there from where we lived in Shropshire. Thank you for taking me on that school ‘outing’ before I was actually old enough to attend school. Wearing my little red suit, red coat and matching cap (+black bow) I was 4-years old and I so loved my Dad then, as I do now.

From snippets of lifetime conversations and the scraping my memory, I believe that I went to the sea-side with Mum and Dad just before the start of the school September term… two months before my 5th birthday.

So, doing the maths and hoping you’ll be proud of me Dad…

You’ll remember I was born on November 4th 1943, so this photo’ would have been taken in early-mid summer 1948 and you, therefore, would have been aged 37 years (nearly 38) in the December of that year,. You were in the prime of your life…. so strong, proud and handsome – just like the team of lovely Shire horses that you worked with in our beautiful Shropshire countryside!

I am now 79 years old, that makes you 112 – WOW!! And it was your birthday a couple of days ago on the 5th December… Happy Birthday Dad, I will never forget you or your birthday. I’m hoping my youngest boy, Oliver, will carry on the family tradition of becoming a happy and loyal follower of the Wright dynasty. It will indicate everything good, righteous and of high ethical value to the next generation of little Wrighties…

Lots of love Dad, as always, I will keep you in my thoughts forever xxx

P.S. My Dad had ambition as a farm worker to save up £250 to buy a cottage of our own! In those days it was a respectable amount of money! This real asset could be gained within about 10-15 years or so, if all went to plan. Sadly, with a family of 5 little ‘bread-snappers’, it wasnt easy or even possible. But mum always managed to get me a full school uniform and to set all five of us up for successful lives of our own, plus a present each for Christmas.

SO, I WOULD LIKE TO PAY THEM BACK THROUGH YOU AS A FOLLOWER OF REAL-LIFE VALUES. THAT’S SHOWING TRUE APPRECIATION OF WHAT YOU HAVE NOW, WHILE SHARING SOME OF YOUR WEALTH WITH OTHERS WHO WILL VALUE IT, IN TURN, BY SHARING WITH THEIR FAMILY!

Build your own (life business on the side)
