Harrys Corner Shop (Under New Management) is “OPEN FOR Business!!”

It’s still a Corner Shop with a character not dissimilar to an English country village store.
The lady serving you is called Mabel who happens to have a family living above the shop in a two bedroom flat. Mabel has three boys and a girl who all went to the local school – it’s often the subject of conversation when you pop in to pick up your newspapers, tobacco and a pound of cheese!
Nothing is too much trouble for Mabel who has lived in the district for 28 years, after her voyage of a lifetime when she moved from the Cotswolds to Dumbwick Green near Warmley, a full 35 miles to the west!
Her accent gives her away as she struggles to disguise a few ‘ooos and ‘arrrs’ in every sentence, typical of the twang in Eaton Munnet where she was born and lived for 18 years.

Her speciality is SOFT CENTRED HUMBUGS – in spite of the fact that they often cause you to have wind, Mabel says they are particularly good for business people because they give you bright ideas, loads of energy and they definitely drive you forward… not sure what she puts in them!!

Fireworks Department - for those who need a little sparkle in their lives!
We also stock fireworks but are currently out of stock due to our supplier having a little accident...
As you know, the success of village life is often dependent on the good will of the locals, old George from the cottages likes to help the community by donating the first hundredweight of his new potatoes etc. So we stock them and when people from the village buy them, we give the money to the local church roof repair fund!
Well, this week Tom Patrick had to put a hold on his home made fireworks that he should have been delivering two days ago. Let me show you a video of what happened during his research and development project for a new type of firework for our local children of Dumbwick Green.

Mabel’s devotion to duty means that we have had to buy her a larger apron every few months… so don’t think she has ALWAYS played for the local ladies Rugby Team. 
In fact Mabel used to be a 400 metres running champion in her teens… that was before she developed her sweet tooth and decided to fill her house with her four children!
